That's a fair point. I agree that engine choice matters less if the game itself adds value to the player .My concern was more about perception, a lot of RPG Maker games get judged instantly because of stock RTP and similar art direction. But you're right, if the game is strong enough in design...

I played a lot of RPG Maker games, well, maybe quite a handful few. I am thinking about taking game dev more than just dabbling. I heard RPG Maker 2003 events systems are very powerful, is it true?

Greetings and salutations, friends! I am a fledgling newbie indie hobbyist game designer, mainly using RPG Maker 2003, for now. I know this website is in Portuguese, but I only know Malay and English, and a couple more languages, which are Kadazandusun, and Lotudian. I hope I am still welcomed...
